Relevance

Of all of human needs, amongst the greatest one, One has come to realize is to be relevant. One is always waiting for signs for the Universe to remind him of his essence. At a time when the time that it takes to boot a computer is sufficient for pushing the creative juices to the corner of the room, after an evening long discussion on profitability, it takes a Saieen Zahoor, or Maa Rewa to convince One that the time is Now!

There is no other time! It is always now. Often One aspires to Be. Why? I am come to realize that Being feels like the only way to re-connect. Connect with all those in the memories. One can often trace this back to what we generally call our roots!!! Why roots? Often there are 7 oceans in between. I think it is to do with that part of one’s self that is intrinsic. Like that bass in ‘With or without you’ which can be heard through walls reminding you of the existence of the rest of the song!

Are we always looking? Searching. That which belongs! That to which we belong?
That part that cannot be omitted despite being under 6 feet of the earth, World, treaded by all who are not you. In a more perverse sense of Being, it seems to be the only way to have everyone close. All who mattered and some who didn’t! Just a reminder that there was You.

It is an effort to let it all flow. How different is reality to reality! What is real? At least Youtube knows one better and picks up a Dev-D song that hasn’t been heard for years. And Apt. Pardesi!!!

In a world where everyday, every hour is a race, and often the race is a self-fulfilling prophecy. It exists but because of itself like a Mobius strip. Ever looping around one and itself. Ultimately can you tell the race from the racer? The worrying thought though is not that there is no end to the race, or that the race doesn’t have meaning, it’s the feeling that the race defines One! And if One wasn’t in the race what would One be???

Music…

Led me again to the part where there is no interference. Everyone has their own music, everyone has their memories intertwined into a select structure. One can flick the songs but the structure is intact. It’s quite comical that a recent movie, ‘Meri pyaari bindu’ made me realize that I was on the other end this time round. While normal humans found it intolerable, I felt!!! It’s incredible how a few scenes of a Maa Durga idol, coupled with pictures of old ill-maintained buildings, over-indulging parents and an over-the-top sugary saree-wearing-Parineeti can seem like ‘relevance’!

After days like this, while running round in Mobius’ strips of ill-gotten memories, it takes Coke studio to indeed remind One that the time is now, there are but few moments where you have few people to share the moment with and the rest as they say is all in your mind!!!

O lagi bina rain na jaage koi!
Mela ae pal di pal eh
Chal mele nu chaliye
O aakhir jaana mar ve
Chal mele nu chaliye

Without the yearning of love, no one stays up all night
The sparkling assembly of the world is here
And now gone…
Let’s go and see the sights for these few moments
Ultimately we must die

Let’s go and see the sights!!!
